Q&A: My roommate’s boyfriend snores incredibly loud, and I can’t sleep! What should I do?

Question by Rita: My roommate’s boyfriend snores incredibly loud, and I can’t sleep! What should I do?
We both stay in a pretty small, cramped room. Her boyfriend sleeps over a few nights a week. Recently he began to snore really loudly! It is so loud that I wonder if the room next to us can hear it! I’m not exaggerating.

Even though she’s lying right next to him, she can sleep through it! But I cannot sleep at all! I’ve tried burying my head under the blankets and pillows, but I end up suffocating myself. One night it was so bad that I just got up and slept outside in the common room.

I’m a college student that needs rest so I can be energized for classes the next day. I tried addressing this problem with her, but she just sort of brushed it off, saying that I should talk to him. When she told him, he just said that he couldn’t do anything about it because he has tried remedies, but they don’t work.

Am I being selfish since I’m the only one it disturbs? I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, help please!!
BTW, I know for sure he doesn’t drink. Haha.

He’s probably drinking which is a contributor to snoring and/or sleep apnea. Tell him to take care of it or pour some tobasco (whole bottle) in his beer.

  1. He should get those Breathe Right breathing strips that go on the nose. I’ve heard a few people say that it greatly reduces snoring.

  2. It is YOUR room. YOU and your roomate are paying to stay there. He’s just a guy who isn’t paying rent who sleeps over. Perhaps it would be best if you compromised and you could agree that he only slept over on the weekends. It’s YOUR room. In the meantime, try ear plugs. Get the foam ones. They stay in better and block out more of the sound.

  3. I would suggest that he sleeps somewhere else. Unless
dorm rooms have relaxed their policies since I went to
college, his sleeping over is a no-no. His snoring just
    might get you all busted.

  4. Put a pillow over his face. lol
jk jk Just tell him to see a doctor or put a core in it.

  5. hahahahha…………videotape him and show it to him so he knows how stupid he is

  6. My husband has started to snore because of the weight he has put on and it’s driving me nuts.

I think to myself he is a pig, he getting lots of sleep and I’m stuck with the noise. I have now started to wake him up very time he wakes me up.
Most times now he sleeps in the other room so HE can get some sleep. Because he knows I will wake him up when he starts to snore.

Maybe you should try the same thing. To bad if he can’t sleep because you wake him up, he’s not letting you sleep. He then might get the message and they can find somewhere else to stay together.

Lets face it. It’s your room, not his.

  7. Start flirting with her boyfriend. Your friend will be so mad and jealous, she will keep him away from you and your bed.

  8. Why isn’t she in HIS bed? Earplugs, move, or ask them to!

  9. U should kill him!
